The PF Ringnecks Program is dedicated to introducing youth to hunting, shooting sports and outdoor conservation through youth events, education, community service and cooperation with both governmental and non-governmental partnerships. Through a variety of programs, youth will gain knowledge, learn skills and develop a land ethic necessary to be responsible hunters and conservationists. As they grow up, they can in turn pass on the outdoor traditions of their youth to future generations.

Ringnecks is an extension of the vision of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever to start a locally driven, nationally led conservation organization that will ensure continuing the tradition of upland game hunting. By recruiting and mentoring young hunters and conservationists, local chapters will be able to develop the volunteers of tomorrow that will be needed to carry on their work. As members' ages increase and more and more people move away from rural lifestyles, it will be more important than ever to recruit a strong volunteer base.

Ringnecks is open to any young person (age 18 and under) interested in the outdoors and conservation. You do not have to be a hunter.

Ramsey-Washington County residents join the Ramsey-Washington County Ringnecks. Just fill out the application below.

The Ringnecks membership comes with a year's subscription to the "Upland Tales" magazine (4 issues), a Ringnecks membership card, and an invitation to your local PF chapter banquet.

Pheasants Forever Education/Youth Efforts

Pheasants Forever believes the future of conservation and our hunting heritage depends upon today's youth having the desire and opportunities to carry on the ethical traditions of this organization. At both the national and chapter level, Pheasants Forever is investing in sound programs with events such as youth mentor hunts, conservation events and habitat projects.

Washington-Ramsey County Chapter Education/Youth Efforts

We take on a lot of projects as a chapter, but the most rewarding are undoubtedly our youth programs. Here are a few of the youth programs we've put on lately:

Firearm Safety Course:

The chapter regularly sponsors Oakdale-based instructor Tom Tousignant to put on these critical courses for local youth. At last year’s course, we had 25 youth take part. We even held an all-girl course this year!

South Dakota Youth Hunt:

Last year, five local youth participated in the South Dakota’s Special Youth Hunt along with the Day County Chapter, which had another 25 kids out hunting wild birds. The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department provides trap shooting and conservation officer seminars. The chapter provides hats, dog handling instruction, a meal, youth lodging provided by Lynn Lake Lodge and guides the wild bird hunt.

Sponsorhips:

We sponsor the John Glenn Cadet Archery youth program at John Glen Middle School, Maplewood, Minnesota.

The chapter also sponsors local educators to attend PF’s Leopold Education Project workshops.

Joint Ramsey-Washington/Mississippi Longtails Chapter Youth Event:

This annual event attracts 700 youth, making it one of the nation’s largest PF youth events. Call Chapter President Dan Richmond at 651-730-4434 for details on this fun and educational event.
